Dr. Nancy Macharia, the Teachers Service Commission boss, said that the teachers could not be engaged in any learning organization in the country in accordance with the Teachers Service Commission Act 2012.
The TSC posted several case numbers along with the teachers’ names indicating that the teachers faced various indiscipline charges.
The commission also posted that Pursuant to section 30 of the Teachers Service Commission Act (2012), the Commission wishes to issue names of tutors who have been detached from the Register of Teachers. Additionally, under the law, these tutors cannot engage in teaching in any learning institution.
According to the Act (2012), any individual who employs an unregistered teacher is accountable for imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine of not less than Ksh100,000 or both.
Teachers Service Commission has been speeding the whip against unprincipled teachers in the current past in a bid to ensure effective service delivery.
In November 2020, over 50 teachers were struck off from the Register of Teachers, In May 2021, Teachers Service Commission fired 52 teachers due to indiscipline cases and In October 2021, the Teachers Service Commission deregistered 43 teachers due to indiscipline.
The change shows an increase in teachers facing the axe as opposed to 71 teachers who were deregistered from 2017 to 2018.
