
Schools should not replace any Form One student who fails to turn up, Education Principal Secretary Julius Jwan has directed. The PS said the students should not be replaced until the Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha declares the end of the enrollment.
“Because of the 100 per cent transition, schools should not replace any student who fails to turn up until Education CS declares the exercise over,” said the PS, in a circular to all County Directors of Education dated May 4.
At the same time, the PS directed that beneficiary of the Elimu Scholarship Programme should have their places reserved until they report. Applications for the Elimu scholarship close today after which vetting will be done to identify beneficiaries.
Some 9,000 needy and vulnerable learners who scored at least 280 marks out of the possible 500 in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams from all counties, including informal settlements in 15 urban centers, are expected to benefit from the scholarship. Only candidates who sat KCPE exams in public primary schools are eligible to apply.
