REF: KNEC/DS/EA/EM/VOL.IV

To:            All Candidates Sitting the 2021 KCPE and KCSE Examinations

Thro’: All Centre Managers of Primary and Secondary Schools offering the 2021 KCPE and KCSE Examinations

Dear Candidate,

1.0 Every year, a few candidates get their examination results cancelled because of cheating. It is sad for a student to miss examination results after learning for several years. However, no examination results can be given to a candidate who has cheated. Examination results are only given for a candidate’s own honest effort.

2.0 In most of the cheating cases, candidates are misguided to cheat by other people. These people mistakenly think that they are helping you, but in fact they are exposing you to suffering through cancellation of examination results.

3.0 The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is committed to making examinations fair for all candidates and has diverse and accurate methods of detecting those candidates who cheat during examinations. Candidates who cheat or are impersonated cannot be given examination results.

4.0 In order for you to receive your examination results, you must not get involved in cheating. You must produce your own honest work during examinations. Cheating will not help you. In fact, should anyone try to make you cheat or if you should become aware of any other candidate involved in this bad practice, you must report this immediately to your parents, your head of institution, Supervisor, Education Officer, the Police or KNEC. You should also report immediately if you notice anyone who is not your classmate sitting the examinations. Remember, in an examination, honesty is the best policy. In addition to this letter, you are required to thoroughly read the last page of your examination timetable under the heading PENALTY FOR EXAMINATION IRREGULARITIES.

5.0 Work hard to get your grades and KNEC will issue you with your well deserved examination results. I wish you success in your examination.

God bless you.

Dr. David Njengere
